The main activities of the society are: To promote studies and research in law, sciences, social sciences. "ethnography, ecology and human development including education. To assess, monitor. and forecast the status of economic and social development in the country with particular reference to the poorer sections of society. To organize skill oriented training courses at the grassroots levels and to help participants in arranging follow-up facilities for self development. To develop a network of volunteers in villages. To assess development needs of problem areas, backward areas, ecologically fragile areas and special groups such as women, children, ex-servicemen for initiating and sustaining group action. To undertake research studies and surveys. To promote reform of administration of justice and of law and its healthy development suitable to the social, economic and other needs of people. To study formulate and evolve newer and simple methods of resolving disputes and to encourage and conduct investigations in legal, social ethnographic and allied fields. To promote diffusion of knowledge of law and its administration and principles on which these are based and carrying the same to grassroots. To organize policy research and analysis in comparative study of other legal and social systems and ethnography, ecology and human development. To organize a systems approach and operational design for proliferation of aid and assistance to remove inequalities in society. To publish studies, treatises, books, periodicals, reports and other literature relating to law, social sciences, ethnography and allied fields, ecology and human development including education. To undertake documentation of important legal, scientific, social, ethnographic and allied subjects and on ecological and human development and to establish and maintain libraries.
