“Aikyam” is a registered society, established by a group of young and educated people for the welfare of the communities in rural areas. In the short time since its inception, Aikyam is proud to have drawn from the commitment of its members in order to successfully undertake the following “baby steps" and activities: Ø Community Help-Desk Programmes: An activity, where Aikyam Members voluntarily help people whenever there is a public programmes or schemes for the people by government or private agency. Aikyam could help people by way of help-desk assistance during many of the government announced public scheme/ programmes. Ø Community Empowerment: A programme which aims to empower the people in rural areas through specific guidance and motivational interventions methods. These programmes are occurring at regular intervals at its operational areas. Ø Community Awareness Programmes: Aikyam society conducts awareness classes and counselling programmes for the rural people on topic of public interest. Counselling is given on most family affected issues in the rural areas. Aikyam has professional social workers who voluntarily do this at the time of need. Ø Care and Support Programmes: Through this programme, many differently abled persons, patients with drastic disease and old age persons are taken care and supported in order to live the life they deserve as like any other human being Ø Educational Support through Scholarship: This programme is for the children of poor families, where Aikyam endow money to needy children in its own limited ways, to support them in their studies. Aikyam society could support few needy children’s in their studies so far Ø Youth Camps: Youth camps are arranged in order to motivate and guide youth. It’s an ongoing programme of Aikyam Society Ø Skill Training for Self-Employment: Skill trainings are conducting with professional trainers so that the people in the village can be independent social entrepreneurs. Ø Blood Donation Camps: Blood donation camps are conducted with the support of different SHG’s in rural area, so is to donate blood to needy patients. The proposed future activities of Aikyam Society are: Ø Aikyam would like to empower the marginalized and the rural poor and the rural poor so that they are able to pursue steadfastly and get the benefits of the various government schemes which are now made available to them Ø Aikyam would like to strengthen the economic power of the marginalized and the rural poor by motivation and enabling to begin their own income generation activities. Ø Aikyam would like to create a spirit of entrepreneurship among the marginalized and the rural poor so that they are able to earn money on their own and become economically self-reliant. Since its foundation in 2014, Aikyam Society has been implementing various programmes towards human and social development in its operational area of Kerala, especially Kasaragod district. Through a network of like-minded people, Aikyam Society promotes initiates, formulates, plans, organizes, takes legal responsibility, monitors, coordinates, implements and evaluates development projects in favour of the weaker and at risk sections of the society.
