Major Activities and Achivements

Akinchan organized many trainings programs on food processing for better utilization of the fruits and vegetables excess of production during seasons. The organization has also organized skill development training programs on food fish and ornamental fish for the rural fish farmers in association with NABARD and state Fisheries Department. Moreover it has organized an exhibition cum demonstration program on ornamental fish and aquariums at Guwahati for the popularization of this trade. Two hundred beneficiaries and entrepreneurs from different parts of the state have participated in the program which was sponsored by NABARD, State bank of India and state Fisheries Department. Development of traditional ERi and Muga in the tropical climatic situations of Assam need modernization to pave the way for income generation by the rural people for optimization of quality production and sustainable self employment. The organization has put it all out effort for commercialization of the age old trade starting from setting up of food plants garden, scientific cocoon rearing leading to finished products in the Borduar Sericulture Development Block of Kamrup District. Moreover it conducted six no. of entrepreneurship awareness program and couple of personality development program for the youth of this region. In the health sector AKINCHAN is providing health facilities to poor people by organizing free health checkup and medicine distribution camp. Till now it has organized six such camps. Currently it is running a Target Intervention project on HIV/AIDS on 400 FSWs at Nagaon district of Assam sponsored by National AIDS Control Organisation. The organization is also conducting awareness programs on System Rice Intensification(SRI) and intensification of prawn, shol fish and kuchia culture with a view to maximize production through entrepreneurs and percolate down the technologies to the farmers in field. Already we have organized no. of skill development trainings on rearing of the above species. The core group of workers being highly qualified in different streams will remain interested to propagate activities of their educational expertise to the grass root for income and livelihood generation.
