Major Activities and Achivements

Main areas of Activity Bastar Sewak Mandal has been working in the Bastar division (Chhattisgarh) since last three decades. In this tenure, we implemented programmes related health, human rights, Education, livelihood, PRI Advocacy, Awareness programme etc. Education as the key apparatus for the development of society. Under the leadership of BSM titled “Inclusive Relevant Education for all, Bastar Ujar” is being implemented by eight NGOs with the support of Edukans Foundation, Netherland and Development Focus, Banglore. Strategies on which we emphasize are: Direct Poverty Reduction: It emphasizes increase in access to relevant quality education in age group 6-18 by affordable and sustainable solutions. Strengthen civil society: It focuses on strengthen the capacity of local actors, in particular from civil societies. Lobby and Advocacy: Initiating people centric advocacy, campaign and lobbying activities in the field of quality education and related issues. Achievements We have mobilized and provided health services for the deprived sections of the community especially the tribal through community-based initiatives in the area of primitive, preventive and curative Health. We raised the education standard of the children by creation of different alternative systems and opportunities. We have empowered the people especially the tribal & marginalized sections of the community and build up their capacities through training, exposures, information dissemination & networking services to make them self reliant through participatory decision-making processes. We have raised the income level of the poor people especially the tribal by eliminating exploitation and creating various need-based sustainable lively hood options. We have enhanced the level of people’s awareness on different developmental issues by setting up a regional resource center. We have built the capacities of the tribal and marginalized people on their rights and develop their skills through advocacy and lobby.
