AchieveMents: The Centre for Youth and Cultural Activities, Khurai Puthiba Leikai, Imphal, Manipur erstwhile Sangeetniketan Khurai was established in 1984 by a group of young artistes and eminent social workers with a view to take up various activities to promote art and culture and welfare of the people of Manipur. Later in the year 1985, it was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 with the registration number of 6064 of 1985 as non profit making, non political, non sectarian and Non Governmental Voluntary Organisation and. The CYCA, Khurai has its own performing unit consisting of well-trained and certified degree holder Artistes and Instrumentalist as well as child Artistes. It has been running successfully a school of Music since 1986 and later adds the dance training classes. Now it is one of the leading Cultural Organisation in Manipur. AIMS AND OBJECTS: The main objectives of the Association are to render service for welfare of the members and non-members of the society in general and to set up welfare programme relating to women, children, old aged persons and youths and to encourage and assisting production of new plays by awarding prizes etc. and to promote folk dance, song & drama, to arrange stipend, scholarship to students., to provide free cultural programme to the local people and to establish aged home and day care centre for elderly people and maintain a creational centre for children and public libraries and to arrange and held periodical lecture, discussion, seminars, conferences and workshop for the developing the knowledge of literate and illiterate persons and to construct cultural building, establish dance academy, music college and others educational centers and to assist the urban and rural poor specially tribes, scheduled caste for their economic sustenance and rise fund by receiving members subscription, contribution, public donation, loans and financial assistance the Govt. agencies and to take up any activities which are incidental and conductive to the attainment of the above objects. Now CYCA has working jointly with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), Bhopal in their any museum activities held at Manipur and other part of the Country. It is purely a non-political, non-sectarian, non-religious and non-profit making voluntary organisations. CYCA was actively involved in the field work, Lecturer programme, collection, hosting seminar, workshop in Manipur and at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, IGRMS, National Museum of Mankind, Bhopal. This were executed by the IGRMS and the team of CYCA., we are chosen as resource persons. In addition the CYCA was able to send of performing art groups for cultural presentation at different state of India as desired by the cultural organisation especially at the IGRMS. The CYCA also work jointly with Local museum like People Museum Kakching in the documentation of cultural Integrity of Manipur. The following programmes were organized during the year 2008-09: Three Days Tour Programme with IGRMS at kakching, Ningel, Andro, Imphal & Khoirentak villages in 3 district of Manipur on 15th to 18th April, 2008. Open air exhibition on U-Hakpa Traditional wood carving of Manipur at the IGRMS, Campus from 05-19 July, 2008. 10day workshop on Traditional wood carving of Manipur at Tribal Museum and Research centre, Imphal, organized in collaboration with IGRMS. “Saptaparni”, Festival of Performing Arts from Seven North Eastern states, 18th-20th oct., 2008 A group of 20 members including 16 children led by Shri L. Ibomcha Meitei participated in the National Bal Rang Festival, 2008, held on 19-21, Dec., 2008 at IGRMS campus Bhopal and secured 2nd position with cash prize Rs. 11,000 and trophy with certificates. A team of 4 artisans send at IGRMS, Bhopal for development of Exhibit under the theme of river valley culture, from 15th dec. 2008 to 2 Jan., 2009. A group of 15 artistes of CYCA participated cultural programme held at Tripura on 16th June, 2008 orgd. by Jananeta Hijam Irabot Memorial Trust, Dharmanagar & Irabot Foundation Manipur. CYCA participated in the cultural programme in International Symposium on Newer Frontiers in Biomedical Research, 28-29 June, 2008 orgd. by Regional Medical Research Centre, NE, Dibrugah, Assam. Organised, 5-day training programme on Meitei Pung on 23th-27th July, 2008. The artistes of CYCA participated in the Cultural Programme held at Manipur University on 22nd Aug. 2008. Organised, one day Patriotic Song Competition on 13 August, 2008 9 artistes of the CYCA presented a performance of Ras Leela on 28th Aug. 2008 at Manipur Dramatic Union, Imphal orgd. by Irabot Cherrity Trust. 7 artistes of the CYCA participated cultural programme held at IIT Guwahati on 4th Sept. 2008. Organised, one day Song & Music Competition on 14 September, 2008. Every year the students and artistes of the CYCA organised Guru Pujah. In this year it was held on 20th September, 2008. CYCA was organised world older day in honour of the older persons which is admitted in our Multi care Centre on 1st october, 2008. The artistes at this CYCA presented a cultural programme on the occasion of the 13th Annual conference, Association of surgeons of India, Manipur State Chapter held on 11th October, 2008 at RIMS, Imphal. 4 artistes of the CYCA participated State Level Youth Festival held on 4-8 December, 2008 at Imphal orgd. by Youth Affairs & Sports Deptt. Govt. of Manipur. On the occasion of closing function in the All India Inter University Judo (M/W) Tournament, 2008-09 held on 30th Dec. 2008 at Manipur Central University, the CYCA presented a cultural programme. A team of 3 artistes presented Pung Cholom & Dhol Dulok Cholom at IIT, Guwahati on 17th January 2009. Organised, 2-day Workshop on Traditional Manipuri Music & Song on 24th-25th January, 2009. The CYCA had conducted 7-day Residential Camp for old aged persons at Longpi Kajui Village, Ukhrul District from 9th-15th Feb,, 2009.
