Service and Research Foundation of Asia on Family and Culture (SERFAC), renaming in process as Service and Research Institute on Family and Children (SERFAC) is an International Non – Government Organization which is committed to the well being of Families and Children. (SERFAC) has SPECIAL Consultative Status with Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, NewYork. Service and Research Foundation of Asia on Family and Culture (SERFAC), renaming in process as Service and Research Institute on Family and Children (SERFAC) is an International Non Government Organization which is committed to the well being of Families and Children. (SERFAC) has SPECIAL Consultative Status with Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, NewYork. Started by Dr Catherine Bernard, SERFAC has since over three decades pioneered the work on Families and Children in India and several overseas countries, trained personnel and assisted in establishing Family Life Centres in these countries. During these years, SERFAC has developed innovative and specialized Programmes addressing the crises of contemporary times and modern society. Following are some of the areas where SERFACs concentration has been focussed Seminars and other programmes to be organized for different groups such as young adults for marriage and youth programmes. Training of parents and care givers such as, orphanages, crèches etc. Projects in rural and semiurban areas. programmes for school children, educators and parents. Updating SERFACs library which as already over 4000 books on family and related areas, over 21,000 articles collected over 30 years regarding family. Producing a new website and documentary on SERFAC Research in areas related to family Providing partial scholarships to deserving students for pursuing the Certificate of Specialization course in Family Sciences Enabling SERFAC to meet the requirements of stipend/honoraria/travel for visiting faculty. To enable SERFAC start its planning for the World Summit of Children “Children of the Future and The Future of Our Children” to be held in January 2010.
