SWAGATH EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ACTION Major Activities and Achivements

Swagati Mahila Sangham is a community based organization situated in the Srikakulum district of Andhra Pradesh. We work with vulnerable women and their families, reaching out to a population of 1685 women spread across 22 mandals. We provide services related to better health, access to basic rights and social entitlements and protection from social stigma and discrimination especially for women affected or infected by HIV/AIDS and their families. Our aim is to provide a better life to the women and their families. Our communities face socioeconomic hardships in terms of employment, education, health etc. The situation therefore demands special attention to their basic needs. To facilitate this, our Community Based organization (CBO) has been involved in engaging with these communities by offering them a special set of services We Provide- Nutrition supplements and counseling to the People living with HIV (PLHIV) Health services through regular health camps to promote overall health needs of the community including services for HIV Tution fee support to children studying in the primary and secondary schools. Support to “back to school” programme for children Higher education/Skill or Vocational development support to Youth An Emergency Fund to provide legal and crisis support to the community
