It was the first organisation to present plays of modern sensibilities and in contemporary theatre practice. It was the first to create bench marks in artistic lighting and stage design and introduced many playwrights of international stature for the first time in Lucknow. Its mentor Prof. Raj Bisaria a Padma Shree Sangeet Natak Yash Bharti Kalidas Awardee has founded Bhartendu Natya Akademi Lucknow.
