AchieveMents: Ugam is working in Hingoli District that comes under Marathwada Region which is one of most backward and drought and drought prone region in Maharashtra. The organization is actively involved in promotion of environmental and agricultural sustainability through natural resource management (watershed development and promotion of water conservation and recharging techniques) under this headline till date total 3000 participants are covered under IWMP project. the trainings on watershed management/reuse/conservation are held on more than 100 villages of the districts, numerically around 70 news structure of rain water harvesting are created around 70 defund and dead bore well brought into reuse by using various techniques.
Integrated rural development is another area of focus of the organization through working on the issues of women, creating awareness about laws and legislations among the villagers by imparting knowledge and skills among the various target groups (technical-non-technical). seed bank (traditional seed collection), organic baazar, trainings, workshops, seminars, debates on organic agriculture practices, creating reading materials, compost and bio-fertilizer techniques, farming womens and farmers groups, certification of organic farmers through PGS (participatory guarantee scheme) are several activities covered under natural resource management and sustainable agricultural. 400 SHGs of grazing land holders have formed under micro finance activity under CBMFI, and they are running their own bank. 50 SHG of farmers are registered under PGS as certified organic farmers and 30 farmers club are established in 30 villages of Hingoli Block under project associated with NABARD.
along with this organization plays very important role in creating awareness about laws, legislation several acts like right to information, national rural employment guarantee, atrocities against backward class communication and women, right to food and right to education, child labor and bonded labor Acts; backward Region Grant Fund, Scheme related to youths and womens in villages etc. its also actively involved with different government departments like health, education, labor department and zilla Parishd for effective implementation of different programs on health (T.B, AIDS, Maleria, Malnutrition, national health insurance scheme) and watershed agriculture, etc. its also involved with human development mission Aurangabad and YASHADA Pune for micro planning. 1600 participants (PRIs members) were given training through 24 trainings programs under BRGF programs. As organization working heavily on trainings and human resource development it felt need to establish training center for women and farmers. The districts level trainings center is under construction that will be provided various trainings to the target group according to the need of area.
