Major Activities and Achivements

AKG Memorial Reading Room and Library commenced its functioning on 1993 with an aspiration of enlightening and encouraging the reading habit of ordinary down trodden people around the area. It is matter of full satisfaction and pleasure while we turn back on its trodden path. For the last 17 years the committee members and office bearers have been working with their blood and sweat and reached the library to its ‘A’ grade position and a double storey own concreted building with all its facilities. Now the number of membership in the library is more than thousand and the library books are more than eight thousand and their face value worth Rs.4,60,000/- ‘D.C Puraskaram 2007’ for the best Rural Library was received by the library. With much pride we would like to express that the school students in the library’s jurisdiction and the local rural population get inexplicable support from the library in different way. ‘Balavedhi’ (Children Forum), ‘Vanithavedi’ (Lady Forum) and ‘Students Corner’ are also in the library’s working agenda and perform their activities in full swing. Tailing Institute, P.S.C. Coaching Centre, Teaching – Learning Material Preparation, Workshop, Musical Class are the subsidiary tasks undertaken by the library. Seminars on different subjects, study classes using renowned Resource Persons are done at occasional intervals. Reading notes preparation and discussion on books, creative workshop camps etc. are also conducted to nurture the creative talents of our stake walkers. Eleven members Executive Committee are conducting the discussion and making resolution for the smooth running of the library.
