Major Activities and Achivements

The Library is located close to the local Jute Mill in the Dist. of North 24 Parganas. Almost all members here are Jute Mill workers. The poor condition of the Jute Mill and other factories in the state has hit the people hard financially, educationally and socially. In the locality, there is only one secondary school to cater to the educational needs of these weak, illiterate and poor people belonging to minority community. School going children are many but poverty compels most of them to assist their family finances because the guardians are mostly hands to mouth. For the past few years, the Library tries to meet the requirement of the students and other youth, so far it could afford with its little financial capacity. There are books, magazines, journals and periodicals. Apart from providing books, the Library also arranges other educational and social activities, on a regular basis to help create, a healthy society, congenial atmosphere and educational awareness among the children and people of this educationally and financially backward locality. We have established an academic unit in the Library to help poor and brilliant students of the locality and surrounding. In this unit we have made arrangements for various books on different subjects. Books are available for students to prepare themselves well for JEE, JEE-IIT, ITI and other similar competitive examination. In our academic unit books on different competitive exams., for services in Central and State Govts., Bank, Railways are also available for the benefit of educated unemployed youth.
