AchieveMents: Bagwan Gramodhyog Samiti Uttarakhand (BGSUK) is voluntary organization working in the remote and inaccessible parts of the district Dehradun and focuses on awareness and establishes the community for their long term sustainable development .In all its programs the organization acts merely facilitator to the development process utilizing local resources, local skills and local knowledge through local initiatives. Experience has shown that this approach is not only cost effective but also ensures sustainability. Another approach of BGS is to increase the linkages between the communities and the Government programs such that benefits Government run services reach the marginalized groups instead of creating parallel structure, which run alongside the government programs. The organization has competences in many technologies like Bamboo Craft, Lantana Craft, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Cultivation, Food Processing, Bee Keeping, Mushroom Cultivation, Integrated Farming, Organic Composting and currently other running programs etc. currently the organization is running many crèche centers. Generating awareness camps and condenses courses funded by Central Social Welfare Board. The organization is also working closely with LIC of India under the Micro-Insurance Program (By LIC of India Ltd), which is being run by the voluntary organizations only. BGS in its present year of implementation has always proved its worth and have maintained its position among the top first organization and last three year organization also feels its social responsibility and in lieu of this the organization is supporting Accidental Insurance (Authorized By United India Insurance), Vaccination (Supported By Research India…) program in remote and inaccessible blocks namely Chakrata and Kalsi of District Dehradun with Research India, a Lucknow based organization. BGS now MOU with K. L. Polytechnic Roorkee Uttarakhand for Six Month Certificate course Like Instrumental, Nursery Rising, Computer, Electrician, Electronics, Garments Making, Food Preservation etc. for Uttarakhand Unemployed civilians. BGS Organized Certificate Course in Food Preservation with Himachal Consultancy Organization Limited (HIMCON) & Central Government of India. BGS is also currently implementing SHGs formation programme with the help of NABARD, Dehradun in Sahaapur block of the district. BGS is an active partner of HESCO, Dehradun, a leading voluntary organization of the area run by Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi, PADAMSHREE. It has played an important role in implementing various programs in the area. The organization with support of HESCO conducted many training programs for the local community in the terrorist prone area of Uri, Baramulla, and Rajauri, Kargi etc. of J&k with active support of Indian Army. These programs mainly focused on various income generating activities like Food Processing, Candle and Dhoop Making etc. the organization also working closely with HESCO under the Micro-Finance Program (Kissan Bank by HESCO), the organization in past having taken ten days of intensive training and skill development course under SGSY through IAMR on behalf of CAPART, New Delhi. Bagwan Gramodhyog Samiti is working closely with the farmers of the area and having its presence in the area for last once decade, the organization has been awarded by the reputed Forest Research Institute(FRI), Dehradun to develop a model village first of its kind in India , for the same a MOU has been signed between them regarding the training of the local villagers and technology transfer. The Institute is also providing a mother nursery cum playhouse for the demonstration of various technologies in the area. Apart from these many groups from leading organization like FRI, Handi craft, Bamboo Board, LIC, CAPART, DST, DBT, CFTRI, KVIC, IAMR and local organization with many foreign national from Switerzerland, Nepal, USA, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Newzealand, Netherlands etc. have also visited the center. The commonwealth team consisting of many international personalities has also visited the center in 2007.
