AchieveMents: Bhartiya gramotthan sanstha is a registered organization working since 20 years in the field of social and rural development. Employment generation is the main objective of the organization. For achieving its target the organization emphasizes on local raw material based employment. Apart from this, the other working areas of the organization is handicraft, handloom(wool, cotton, jute), jute carpet, giving commercial training to the women self help group (SHG) for income generation, helping SHG in marketing of their products, imparting technical knowledge, forestation, environment related programme, cultivating medicinal plants, implementing various health programme based on Indian medical system with the participation of the mob is the major objective of the organization.
A highlight on various projects and programme being run by the organization are as follows:
This project is sponsored by Ambedkar Hastashilp Vikas Yojna (A.H.V.Y), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. Under this project all the artisans especially bamboo craftsmen and artistic woolen weavers were given training for designing of handicrafts and provided with raw material and the organization helps them in promoting and marketing of their products for their income generation by organizing various exhibitions for exhibiting the products made by these craftsmen.
1) JUTE SERVICE CENTRE(J.S.C)
This project is sponsored by National Centre for Jute Diversification (N.C.J.D), Kolkata, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. The organization has been working in this area for more than 10 years. Previously the artisans used to make products with local fibers only whose market was very limited. Apart from this the organization is recently running its ownJute Service Centre, which is running many projects for thediversification of jute products and generating employment for the artisans of this area
2) TRAINING OF SELF HELP GROUP
To empower the rural and urban women, the organization has made women self help group which emphasizes on their awareness, small savings, various vocational trainings, providing loans, self employment generation. The organization is devoted for empowering women.
TOTAL SANITATION CAMPAIGN (T.S.C) PROGRAMME
Under this programme the organization along with Uttrakhand Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project (SWAJAL) assisted by Govt. of Uttrakhand and Jal Nigam, has encouraged A.P.L. and B.P.L. families of 103 gram sabha in 4 districts namely Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Dehradun and Tehri Garhwal for construction of toilets and has organized sanitation related programme.
3) EXHIBITIONS
The Organisation, for the welfare of the artisans, purchases the handicraft and handloom items prepared by the local craftsmen and artisans and exhibits them in the organizations own showroom and various exhibitions organized by the Govt. so that it gives a platform where the products of the local artisans are recognized.
4) VOCATIONAL COURSES FOR SELF EMPLOYMENT
The organization also sponsors various vocational courses for empowering various sects of the society. A few are listed below:
