AchieveMents: Sevanikethan is a non – profit registered organization for the social apostolate under St. Mathew’s Province, Changanacherry in the Sacred Heart Congregation for women in India. We work for the upliftment of the marginalized and vulnerable section in the community without any discrimination of cast, creed, sex and age through various projects for last 38 years. Our motto is to “Love and Serve” with the vision of a society where peace and harmony is achieved and sustained. We work with the mission of reaching to Almighty by reach out to environment and fellow being through work with individuals, group, family and community. Under this organization 4 Special Schools are functioning, 3 for Mentally Retarded children and 1 for Deaf and Dumb, a rehabilitation centre for Mentally Challenged women, 4 Rehabilitation centers are functioning for the children from problematic families, child focused community development programs are functioning in various regions in our target areas. It also addresses environment problems by using central Government funds, focused on sponsorship programmes, Income Generating Programmes, women empowerment programs,, capacity building programs for women and children based on their rights. Financial support is given to the marriage of girls form financially backward families. Various programs are conducted for the upliftment of Daliths like professional education, Income Generation Programs, scholarships etc. And we are also providing financial and material assistance for the construction and maintenance of houses for low income families. We conduct various awareness programmes to uplift socially backward community and promoting them to joining various welfare schemes and insurance schemes provided by Government bodies and other NGOs. Many other programmes and project are running successfully against drug abuse, child rights protection, women empowerment etc. Our main areas of intervention includes Education, Health, Geriatric care, Tribal development, Women empowerment, Differently able, Environment, Housing etc Sevanikethan has undertaken a number of programmes for the overall development of all the sections of the society. As an individual who enjoy the privileges of the world it is our commitment to work for its integrity. We could successfully reach out the under privileged and indigenous with the experience of 38 years in the field. Along with our social work activities, we host many programs and training for the public with the support of several departments under State and Central Ministries. Some of the milestones in our history are given under: • Sponsoring students from economically backward families for last 7 years. • Saving Schemes for children to develop their saving habit under the name “Ishwarya Project”. • Skill training and test is conducting for both Men and Women in association with Textile Ministry of India. • A number of special schools, Balika Bhavans is also functioned by our sister organizations in several parts of India. • Conducting Environmental Awareness Campaign programmes in association with Government (NEAC) for last 5 years. • More than 60 SHGs in different regions of our target areas. • Operating Tribal hostels and Working women’s Hostel for their protection and empowerment ensuring their security also.
