AchieveMents: Sundarika Bartika is a non profit making organisation which was established in 1982 (Registered in 1987 ). Two Bengali word ââ¬ËSundarikaââ¬â¢ & Bartika, Sundarika means omen or auspicious and Bartika means lighted lamp or flame. To eradicate rural derkness as well as problems i.e. Illitaracy, Poverty, Unhealthy, Population, Superstition evils, ets. We have burned the auspicious lamp ââ¬ËSundarika Bartikaââ¬â¢. Sundarika Bartika is that organisation which was started by a group of individual, today has more than 50 people engage for the cause. They are dedicated and sincere in their effort to serve the people, while a handful are full time, some are part time and others provides their voluntary but valuable support.
The works as the initial stage was physical and culture based but today organisation is involved in activiities such as education, environmrnt, agriculture, awareness building, self help group, vocational training, income generation for the benefit of women and children of minority community. This has been possible due to people participation in the programmes. The various departments of Sundarika Bartika are supervised by the department heads (co-ordinator) who in turn responsible to the Secretary. Sundarika Bartika is currently, working in two district of West Bengal,( Diamond Harbour Block-II, Mathurapur Block-II of South 24 Parganas and Baghmundi & Bundwan Block of Purulia District) and it provides two kinds of services: Community Based Rehabilitation and Institutional. The focus of Sundarika Bartikaââ¬â¢s work has always rural minorities and Tribal area- to fight against all sorts of oppression and set out on a journey with three goals: (1).Human Resource Development (2).Socio-economic Development. (3) Conservation of Natural Resource and Environment.
