Major Activities and Achivements

I.Women Development Programme : a) The Zomi Mothers’ Association (ZMA) has formed 45 (fourty five )Self Help Groups in various localities and rural areas of the district. b)The ZMA has been providing killed training to women expecially widows and poor women affected and infected by HIV/AIDS, women affected by conflict,disasters and victims of sexual and Domestic violence, rape and immoral trafficking. The training is provided once a year for a period of Six months. c)The ZMA has been providing Positive Intervention to mitigate the plight of women victims of Sexual abuse, rape, exploitation and illegal trafficking. d)Finding financial help for widows and poor women affected by conflict and poverty : The ZMA has found financial sponsors for a widow whose husband died due to conflict in the region. II.Children Development Programme: a)Established a children home called “Only Grace” for children and orphans affected and infected by HIV/AIDS at ZMA Road,Vengnuam,New-Lamka,Churachandpur. There are 13 (thirteen )orphans/children at present.They are provided shelter,food, education and basic needs. b)Counseling , relief and rehabilitation of children victims of rape and sexual abuse. c) Provide positive intervention to mitigate the plight of children victims of sexual abuse , rape, exploitation and illegal trafficking. d)The ZMA has found a safe haven for 80 (Eighty) Children affected by conflict and poverty.Besides, 6(six) children have been provided educational support. III.Relief and Rehabilitation : a)Contributions and donations in cash and in kinds to families affected by conflict and Disaster.Five tones of relief matrials donated by Cross-road International,Hongkong has been distributed by the ZMA in the last ethnic conflict. c) The ZMA collected and donated Contribution in cash and kinds to publics through its ZMA town and village units to families affected by ethnic conflict in NC Hills, hmar refugees in Mizoram in the recent violent meted to them by the valley based militants, families affected by famines in ryral churachandpur district. IV. Capacity building and awareness programme a)Training and workshop organized for women and widows on i)Self Help Groups. ii)Gender and legal issues of women. ii)Human Rights and Women Rights. iv)HIV/AIDS. v)Domestic Violence Act. b) Observation of International women’s Day. V.Advocacy and Research : a) Advocate to tribal leaders and Government official with regards to tribal customary practices and laws related to women. b) Research made on i)“ Social legislation of women and the Tribal customary laws” ii) “Gender issues and impact of NREGS to rural women of Churachandpur District “
