AchieveMents: Council of Cultural Growth & Cultural Relations (CCGR) was established in 1973 with the efforts and cooperation of several like minded people- scholars, intellectuals and social activists. The overall goal is for the development of the weaker, deprived sections of the society. The organization has established its horizon to multifarious dimensions. It aims to utilize the natural resources with the help of appropriate technology for better productivity, emphasizing employment generation. a) Training Programmes: The CCGR has carried out various training activities for socio-economic development of the people. The organization has conducted, organized and trained the field level supervisors of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). b) Education: Participating with the National target-Education for All, the CCGR has taken up Non-Formal Education (NFE) Programme for total literacy in Rural areas. The Instructors working for NFE Programme conducted by CCGR as well as the instructor working for other smaller NGOs have been provided training in the Institute. c) Educational Complex in Low Literacy Pockets for Adivasi Girls: We have organized an Educational Complex for Tribal girls (Residential School) in Banjikusuma of Muniguda Block of Rayagada District, Orissa. d) Training for Rural Youths for Self-Employment (TRYSEM): TRYSEM Training programmes on Knitting, Tailoring & Applique work, Electronics (TV & Radio repairing), were undertaken by our organization. The trainees were from undivided Cuttack Districts of the state. Majority of the trainees have been fruitfully engaged in income-generation programmes. e) Woolen Carpet Weaving Centre at Niali, Cuttack District: With a grant from Development Commissioner Handicraft, Ministry of Textile, Government of India our organization had set up a Woolen Carpet Weaving Training & Production center in Niali of Cuttack District where Women & girl trainees were trained and rehabilitated. f) Research Programmes: Environmental awareness is one of the major objectives of the CCGR. It has taken up a research programme on traditional management systems and environmental perception of tribal and non-tribal village communities of Orissa, running under the project banner – Man & Forest. It emphasizes upon the study of Man’s multifaceted relationship with the forest over the ages. The study covers man’s ethical, ethnic, social, cultural, economic and philosophical aspects of relationship with the vegetation and forest. g) International Seminars: We have organized many International Seminars on the following topics. A number of scholars & intellectuals from different countries of the world have participated in it. · Buddhism & Jainism · Folk Culture · Societies in Transition : Alternative for the Future · Gandhi & Modern Times · Comparative Religion & Challenges of the Present · Environment & 21st Century · Tribal Culture in a Changing World · Rethinking Indian Culture: Challenges & Responses · Celebration of the Cuttack City Millennium · Issues of Population Stabilization and Development h) Health Management: Enhancing community and personal health is one of the major lookouts of CCGR. Since long it has been providing health care services to the poor masses in Urban and Rural areas through various activities like organizing health camps, eye camps, charitable medicine distribution etc.
