FORUM FOR INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT Major Activities and Achivements

JULY 2008 ONWARDS: Chetana Organic & Fair Trade Cotton Supply Chain Programme India : The programme is currently operational in the semi-arid and predominantly tribal areas/regions of Andhra Pradesh (Telangana), Maharashtra (Vidarbha) and Orissa(SW). The programme aims to improve the livelihoods (option) of the resource poor smallholder farmer households engaged in cotton cultivation. FFID provides technical and IB Support. As on date, more than 6,500 farmers are registered with the Chetana programme and benefit from taking up organic agriculture and ecological farming practice and having access to markets 2005 Ė 2007 Natural Resource Management (NRM) This project has benefited 49 women SHG (692 women members) from the drought prone Mahaboobnagar district of AP with CAPARTís support 2004 Save the Grain Campaign Created awareness among the women self help groups in Kottur mandal of Mahaboobnagar district of AP with Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Dept. of Food & Public Distribution of the Govt. of India (GoI) support. 2003 - 2007 Social Engineering Activities Initiated in 64 villages from the three rainfed districts of Adilabad, Medak and Nizamabad in AP and while covering 19,449 small holder farmers and 46,754 acres and as part of 48 lift irrigation schemes of the Govt. of AP (GoAP).Supported By: Andhra Pradesh State Irrigation Development Corporation (APSIDC), GoAP. 2003-04 FAO-EU IPM Programme For Cotton in Asia Organized 125 farmers from 5 villages of Nawabpet Mandal of MBN district of AP. Initiated and conducted participatory Farmer Field Schools (FFS) on a weekly basis during the cropping season. Supported By: Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO of UN) and European Union (EU)
