AchieveMents: The JSS at Rourkela was set up in early 1983 – first one in Orissa Registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 as per the Guidelines of the Government of India A district level resource support agency for vocational training Organizes short duration, practice oriented vocational and technical courses – more than 75 types Encourages self-employment and co-employment Organizes informal Activities for awareness building Covers non-literates, neo-literates, ST, SC and women on priority basis in 17 Blocks of Sundargarh District Provides income generation training to special groups – members of SHGs minorities, prisoners, under-trials etc. Course fee is low and nominal and token participation fee for rural beneficiaries Life Enrichment Education (LEE) components built into all courses 55,000 beneficiaries in 26 years of which 77% is women, 10% SC, 50% ST Conducts programmes in collaboration with different agencies/departments
