AchieveMents: Kripa Foundation is the largest Non–Governmental Secular and Indian Organization, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Govt. of India, helping people suffering from Chemical Dependency and HIV Infection. Kripa Foundation offers a non-discriminating, supportive Community Living, helping people to introspect and bring about change in lifestyle. The Organization began in Bandra in 1981 with three patients in residence and a priest, a doctor and a recovering alcoholic as a role model for recovery and sobriety. Since then this Public Charitable Trust has grown to 58 facilities in 11 States in India, namely Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, West Bengal, Assam, Gujarat, Delhi, U.P. of which Mumbai, Goa, Imphal, Kohima and Shillong are aided through Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment MSJE), Government of India grants. The remaining centres are aided by National and International Donors. Kripa Institute of Training is at the forefront in training facilitators in Chemical Dependency and Rehabilitation and offers a broad spectrum of services to the community and facilitates the police, educational institutions and other academic institutions that are involved in Human Services. A major area of work involves interaction with industry in terms of Occupational Health Care Program which is comprehensive and addresses them in confidentiality. Kripa Institute of Research is recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation under the Department of Science and Technology. The research work aims at understanding the disease parameters, personality profiles, impact on social mores, family units and industry, therapeutic aspects, intervention methodologies and holistic considerations related to lifestyle change. Although Kripa Foundations first foray into the field of HIVAIDS was in the year 1981, it is now embarking on a vast activity directly related to HIVAIDS care. This activity is in the form of composite replicable projects at various Kripa activity locations. Under Kripa AIDS the first initiative is the formation of the Vasai Region AIDS Control society VRACS. VRACS is sole private sector modelled project y collaboration between organizations. Based on SMART Surveillance Monitoring and care Awareness and Training service. It is steered by the academic backing of University of South Floridas CHART Centre for Health and HIVAIDS research and Training India programme.
