AchieveMents: Main features of the constitution/Byelaws The institution is promoted by Matushri Chandramati Pratishthan, which has very broad objectives encompassing all types of activities. The resolution of this effect clearly mentions the objectives of the institution. There is a special focus on development of rural entrepreneurship micro enterprises and income generation activities in rural areas. It also emphasizes on creation of information and database on rural areas. The governing council appointed by mother trust will decide the activities to be undertaken by the trust. The institute will have its separate bank account. However, for all the financial formalities, the institute will be treated as part of Matushri Chandramati Pratishthan and so its accounts will form part of the balance sheet of Matushri Chandramati Pratishthan. Mission of the organization To help development of rural areas and rural population through mainly capacity building and information, dissemination, seminars, employment generation, activities management, research for development and evaluation of various developments schemes conducting workshops and training. Objectives of the Organization The Instituteââ¬â¢s major objective is to function as an agency to promote Rural Development in the following manner: (a) To identify areas of industrial / agricultural, economic and educational growth where there are possibilities of development in rural areas (b) To conduct specialized training programmes which can encourage or assist the rural development in the areas mentioned above (c) To organize and motivate the activities which would help in accelerating the rural development programmes (d) To conduct specialized studies and research which may be directly or indirectly related to the rural development activities (e) To assist the rural folks in building up sufficient funds for economic, social and cultural activities for their day to day needs Brief history of the organization Rural Development and Management Institute was promoted by Matushri Chandramati Pratishthan in 1997 with a view to help development of rural areas by providing professional inputs required in policy and programme planning implementation monitoring and evaluation. The Governing Council with stalwarts was formed. There were 9 members. The institute having no corpus started in a small way with the help of the staff of ââ¬ÅPranava Industrial Services Pvt. Ltd. where Mr. P. J. Divatia is the Chairman and Managing Director. The first project undertaken was of women entrepreneursââ¬â¢ development in villages of Viramgam Taluka Nabard assisted this project. Since then institution is involved in various activities of field research extension and training. In last two years it worked very closely with, The Hunger Project on various grass roots level programmes. Focused areas of activities The Institute since its inception in 1997 has been involved in various activities in the areas of extension, research and training relating to rural development. The Institute is in Socio-Economic research activities since its inception. It has completed some 21 research studies by now on behalf of various institutions and Government departments. The subjects include credit programmes, social forestry, training in agriculture, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, water and sanitation, literacy, marketing, education, Cottage industries, Disaster management etc. It is in the process of developing several innovative projects focusing on identification of income generation activities, developing proper linkages between community development activities and local institute, providing information base for planning of rural development programmes, identification of development opportunities etc. It is also focusing on popularizing some of new and sustainable technologies in rural areas. Sustainability of development is the main concern of the institution. It has a group of innovative young people who are interested in providing their intellectual inputs in rural development activities. The detailed list of activities carried out is provided at annexure-II). Infrastructure available We have all the necessary infrastructure facilities like building vehicles, computers, fax, internet, telephones, audio/video equipments, etc. along with around 1000 sq. ft. office space at Ahmedabad. Institutional Network We have a strong network with several institutes like Indian Society for Population Education (ISPE) and Indian Society for Community Education (ISCE) having their central office at Ahmedabad and local offices at Viramgam, Daskroi, Sanand and Dehgam Taluka. The Hunger project having its office at Ahmedabad and its Network with 65 NGOs spread all over Gujarat and also reputed Gandhian Institute like Gujarat Vidyapith, which has several rural campuses. The institute has also National Network with several institutes in Mumbai and New Delhi.
