Society For Equitable Voluntary Actions Key Issues and Operational Areas, Major Activiities & Achivements

AchieveMents: Society for Equitable Voluntary Actions SEVA) is a development organisation working in the two districts of West Bengal – North 24 Parganas and Birbhum since last 29 years. The Project at North 24 Parganas is known as Vikas Kendra. We are working with population of 35/40 villages (Religious Minority Dense) of Baduria, Habra-1 & II & Deganga CD Blocks. Where we have been there for last 24 years. The other project known as Manab Jamin is in Birbhum for the last 15 years. Our main area of work spans is Child Development, WASH, Health, Education & Organic Farm and Non Farm Micro Enterprises, Training and Capacity Building of Women, Youth and PWDs. We also run a Short Stay Home for destitute and rescued women, a small old age home and an Orphanage. The entire complex is known as Ananda Kendra takes care of 60 heads. We also run 24 hours Women’s Helpline for counseling the women in distress. Our Food Process Unit provides employment to the rural women and supplies various indigenous products. We also have tie up with Industrial Jute Units to provide Raw Jute Fiber for manufacturing. We engage 700 jute farmers in the Organic Jute Culture. This farming nature increases the quality of Raw Jute which is viable business option for Sick Jute Industry. In this process the direct jute farmers get the economical benefit as well the labourers will get employment benefit from the Jute Industry. We are also running Medicinal Plantation Units for different diversified products of Medicinal plant in sustainable way. For education growth of SC, ST and Minorities we are running pre-primary school to grow school going habit for new generation learners. In MJ there are 8 centres in 8 villages. Each village centres (MJSK) capacity 30 children with 2 teachers (1 Asst. Teacher & 1 Mother Teacher). The age group of children is 3 – 5 years. Methodology of teaching normally it is a play method using lot of TLM, charts, posters, flash cards, magic bag etc.
