Major Activities and Achivements
The Friends Foundation of Asia is a voluntary organisation founded by few professionals, cancer spealists and a cancer victim. Provide Rehabilitation Home (Hospice ) for hadicapped / chronically ill patients abandoned by family / next of kin. A Hospice presently exists with ten bed at Karbala Narendrapur, Kolkata - 103. The patienets harboured there are dependant on the Foundation for their living and medical assistance. Foundation also arrange cancer awarness, including tobacco cessation camps at Howrah, Hoogly and Kolkata. Health camps are held for BPL in the districts of Sunderban, Hoogly, Howrah and Kolkata at regular intervals. Screening for breast and cervical cancer along with eye check up and cataract operation under the Govt. programme of NPCB are held regularly.Pre cancerous screening of mother at Pandua with the help ICDS alos done by Foundation. Health clinic twice a week also held for people of BPL at Hoogly. Foundation also sponsor two children who have lost one of their parents in duodenal cancer are provide with their school and tution fees every month. One muslim male child abandoned by his father is provided with the expenses of Madrasa every month. A cancer survivor girl of 19yrs. of age in provided with Vocational training. The foundation is not yet funded by any Institution or Govt. The programmes are run by the help of donations received from its members, and personal donations from benevolent people.
