Major Activities and Achivements

Jananam April 2007 This marked the official launch of the Emergency Mananagement and Golden Hour Care Programme. Meeting with Mr Narayanamooorthy August 2007 We met Mr Narayanamoorthy, an eminent member of the ISRO family and a close associate of Dr Abdul Kalam and have been from then being advised on various ideas to take the entire initiative forward. Meeting with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam August 2007 We met Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to introduce ALERT to him and sought his advice, participation and direction to help us, to which he has graciously consented. Meeting with the Health Secretary of Tamil Nadu State Mr. Subbu Raj We met with the Health Secretary to speak on the need for bringing a service like the EMRI ( Emergency Medical Reserch Institute, Andhra Pradesh ) to the state and also to explore ways for ALERT to work together. Visit to EMRI (Hyderabad) September 2007 The ALERT team visited the EMRI campus at Hyderabad and met the executive team headed by its CEO Mr. Venkat Changavalli to study what they have been doing successfully and also explored ways of working together with them and bring their services to Tamilnadu. Presentation to the Rotary Club October 2007 ALERT made a presentation to the Rotary club seeking support and also a platform to conduct workshops which was well received and agreed upon. Handshake with Banyan, a leading NGO To get to learn from the experience of a person who built an organization like The Banyan, we met Ms Vandana, the founder, and interacted with her. She also extended all her support at various levels to help ALERT grow. We met Ms Madhu, an executive director of the BALM to study and explore ways of fitting emergency care programme into their workshops. Visit to Adaikalam, Banyan October 2007 To mark the completion of the first year of ALERT, the ALERT team visited the Adaikalam, Banyan, to celebrate by spending time with the inmates. Talks with Sanjeevini, Bangalore November 2007 ALERT visited Sanjeevini, a leading NGO located in Bangalore, Karnataka. The ALERT team met up with the founders and the management team to study their operations. Awareness Rally on Emergency Care held at Marina Beach, Chennai January 2008 This was a massive event marking the conclusion of the 3 month long workshops sessions involving the students of MOP Vaishnav College. The awareness rally held at the beach was aimed at generating awareness on the need for emergency care to common man and also the need to get trained in golden hour care and emergency management. There was an overwhelming response of about 2000 people joining the rally. The guests for the event were Mr. RamSubramanian, Justice, Madras High court, Mr Vidyakar, founder, Udhavum karangal, Mr Kandaswamy, CEO, DLM Digital studios and noted film producer and Ms Nirmala, Principal, MOP Vaishnav college. A few hospitals such as Chettinad, Billroth, Lifeline and Apollo also show cased their support for the cause by letting their ambulances join the rally. The programme was covered by Radio city and the message of emergency care along with the legal aspects went on air that morning.
