AchieveMents: Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change:
1700 farmer families have enrolled with us under Low Carbon Farming. Baseline survey completed for 3500 farmer families. Trials ongoing since 2011, to measure GHG emission from Pudukkottai like situations. We have trained the farmers on sustainable agriculture.
We have been promoting fodder crops among 500 farmers since 2012. Awareness campaigns are held annually. Fodder bank for selling low cost fodder has been formed.
50 biogas units have been built for which 25 masons have been trained on the job and are available as local resources.
We have been promoting CFL bulbs along with biogas plants to achieve Green Villages.
Forestation:
We have also distributed saplings to huge number of farmers under aforestation.
Women and Children:
We have conducted 200 awareness programs relating to children and women. 250 patients identified and referred to Tuberculosis treatment. Low cost IEC material preparation and distribution.
30 children clubs are active with 500 children covered under life skill trainings. 7 camps conducted so far, in which 350 children participated. Climate change campaigns have been conducted in 7 schools. Also annual campaigns are being conducted to encourage enrollment in schools.
Disaster Management:
During the 2006 Tsunami, we have worked in the Tarangambadi belt and have provided boats and nets during the rescue process.
We engaged in desalinizing 250 acres of land during the 2006 Tsunami.
