AchieveMents: Caritas India’s biggest achievement lies in the fact that it is India’s second largest network organization after Red Cross. What makes us unique is our presence across the country and the large spectrum of development interventions for which Caritas India mobilizes and invests funds. Last year, Caritas India was recognized one among twenty reputed innovative organizations that received the Millennium Alliance award Round two for innovation from Honorable Transport Minister Nitin Gadkare. Caritas India also has successfully conducted four major International Conference on Food Security, Small holder Farmers, Disaster Risk Reduction, Child Rights and is now going to organize a National Conference on Health and Well-Being. Caritas India CBRF was formed during 1996 and since then it works with partner NGOs to promote empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities in rural areas through Community Based rehabilitation approach. Currently it is reaching out to 52,000 people with disabilities through 65 NGO partners. Apart from this, we have worked on projects that aim at improving the living standards of communities like displaced tribal community in Tripura, endosulfan victims in Mangalore, marginalized community of Jammu etc. These target population were given training on skill development on activities like driving, jewelry making, goat and pig rearing, tailoring, mushroom cultivation.
