AchieveMents: Gunjan Dance Academy is one of the premier cultural institute of Odisha, established in the year 1995 in order to popularize Odishi and also retain the purity in this classical dance form which traces its origin from the temples like Konark, Puri, and also many temples of Bhubaneswar. We focus at reaching out to masses and the classes with the variety in performances so that it is easy and simple to understand yet graceful and intense in meaning. Gunjan orgnanise two major festivals in a year. The Academy organizes Gunjan Dance & Music Festival every year in which artists of national and international repute of different dance and music style from different parts of the country used to participate and it already completed its 20th year in this November . Anathor festival Gunjan Sandhya in every year which is organized in different cities of the Country. Apart from this major programmes, Gunjan organize two more programmes in its Amphitheatre every year. Gunjan celebrate World dance day on 29th of April and also Guru poornima every year. We also conduct summer workshop by Inviting experts from different dance forms. We conduct seminar based on Dance, Music and Rhythm in a regular basis . Gunjan performing group is empanelled with ICCR and has already performed more than 32 countries all over the world in last 12 years. Gunjan is empanelled with ICCR to teach foreign students and for the same it has excellent in-house facilities where students from overseas and also different parts of India come to learn Odishi. Every year the performing group of Gunjan, perform in many major festivals of India and abroad. At present 215 students are learning in the Institute. Gunjan gives training to poor and needy students including providing costumes and other dance accessories free of cost .Gunjan gives special training session for the tribal, and rural students by conducting Lecture demonstration programmes in undeveloped district. Gunjan used to visit different educational institutions in frequent intervals to give lecture and demonstration for the young students to make them aware and attracted towards this dance form. Gunjan has already produced many self employed trained teachers of Odishi dance who are propagating this culture by performing as well as teaching others.
