AchieveMents: India Foundation for Humanistic Development [IFHD] is a Sec 25 (now 8) not-for-profit foundation with Sec 12 A and 80 G exemptions. Guided by humanist values, IFHD’s mission is to contribute to a just, free and equitable society in which all people, regardless of gender, caste, ethnicity or other identities, have equal access to opportunities and resources, and actively participate in decision-making processes that determine their lives and their future. By investing in transformative development interventions and collaborating with individuals, civil society organisations, the private sector and the government, IFHD aims to enable social change – in both rural and urban areas. IFHD is committed to the marginalised, and seeks to create lasting improvements in their lives. IFHD trusts in the creativity and agency of people and its core values are quality, cooperation and innovation. IFHD is promoted by senior development professionals, with in-depth experience in international development organisations. IFHD’s key programme areas are sustainable agriculture, livelihoods, social entrepreneurship, biodiversity, greening food and energy systems. IFHD’s flagship programme, ProCIF - Producer Entrepreneurship Catalyst and Incubation Facility (ProCIF), is a social innovation programme supported by TATA Trust. ProCIF seeks to incubate and transform asset-poor FPOs across India into self-reliant sustainable enterprises. ProCIF facilitates FPOs to access funds through grants, soft loans as well as market based finance, depending on the maturity and the readiness of the FPO coupled with a cross cutting Technical Assistance Facility to support FPOs through their stages of growth and evolution. In addition, IFHD works on two other interventions: Leader’s for Nature: IFHD and IUCN National Committee of the Netherlands are working together under the project – “Collaboration with IUCN in support of Leaders for Nature India”. LfN India supports its member companies in incorporating natural capital into their core businesses potentially in three ways – inspiration (sharing best practices, expert motivational speeches etc.), Knowledge and Training (in company trainings, workshops) and Project Support (to member company team to execute sustainability plans at site and through their supply chains). Among other benefits, member companies would also be provided with to a vast knowledge base of grassroots NGOs and research organisations working on bio-diversity conservation, eco systems and communities. IFHD’s role is to provide technical assistance and field support where necessary in the domains of environmental and social development, provide access to its civil society network, share expertise and facilitate inputs from experts on livelihood and bio-diversity, and undertake pilots on business and bio-diversity. EU-Switch Asia: Under the European Commission’s Switch Asia call – ‘’Promoting Sustainable Consumption and Production”, IFHD is a partner along with Hivos and International Resources for fairer Trade in the Programme – “Access to finance for sustainable production and consumption of agribusiness MSMEs in India”. The action is located in 6 states of India i.e. Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa. The overall objective is to promote among agri-MSMEs the adoption of sustainable technologies using financial initiatives and linkages with retail markets. The goal is to exploit the potential of MSMEs to catalyse an important shift towards green/ fair production, hence supplying consumer markets with green/ fair product options.
