AchieveMents: IRADS Akki-Alur, since its inception on 1994 has been carrying out awareness building programmes with respect to animal and human health activities as a well as we conducted 23 health camps since its birth. It has been trying to educate the weaker sections of societies including landless and marginalized people. The activities have been confining to the rural villages and around Akki-Alur of Hanagal Taluk. IRADS plan to extend its social welfare programmes in the form of seminars and street plays long back. It organized AIDS JANA JARAUTHI in 1998 at Hangal and AIDS ââ¬â ONDU MARAKA ROGA at Akki-Alur in 2000. Our institution is aim to serve the people irrespective of caste creed religion and sex by creating employment to the unemployed youths in villages.
IRADS plan to take up the AIDS prevention scheme in a totally systematic way. It has got its own strategy in its implementation. In the beginning IRADS plans to conduct awareness-building programmes in the specified areas of operation.
Unless and until a proper awareness of the hazards of AIDS is brought about it is difficult to achieve any goal. IRADS plans to conduct awareness building through posters, pamphlets, street plays and video shows apart from wall painting and Jathas, which gives a general outline of the purpose of the project. In the second stage they will be given seminars on the use of condoms and other preventive measures to keep AIDS away from them. This could be of course achieved only after the formation of community based organizations like self help groups involving sex workers, Migrating workers, Truck Drivers, Homosexuals and Drug addicts for the identification of the vulnerable groups, we might have to conduct a base line survey.
After the formation of CBOââ¬â¢s they will be given trainings in income generating activities, to have a sustainable income. The children of those HIV affected women will be given education through Child Education Team (CET), IRADS also plans to provide housing facilities to those people through various governmental schemes and slowly they would be brought in to the mainstream.
IRADS Akki-Alur has got an excellent infrastructure facilities and a team of expert dedicated staff to face any challenge and can raise to any occasion. Our vice president Mr. Rajashekhar Kallammanavar is a Rotarian by himself and has participated in several.
Health Camps conducted with a joint venture of rotary club, Haveri apart from this one of our staff members have undergone a training on HIV, HIGH RISK ACTIVITY RESEARCH PROJECT in ballary from SWASTHI organization. On top of all we have a expert team of health consultants in from of doctors, nurses, lab technicians and pharmacists. Who have a rich experience in conducting programmes for the common people.
