Operational States: WEST BENGAL

AchieveMents: Bratyajon, a Bengali group theatre, is the brainchild of ace playwright and actor-director Bratya Basu. He has formed and steered the group from 2008. The productions under the banner of Bratyajon have been influenced by the learning, motivation, inspitration and experiences of the renowned playwright and theatre artist himself. Some of the important productions of Bratyajon are Ruddhasangeet (2009), Canvasser (2011) and Byomkesh (2011). Apart from theatrical production, the group is active in many associated fields. An important activity of the group is to organize an annual theatre festival. The ‘Bratyajon Natya Aayojan 2012’ was organized at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata from 16th to 19th February. Bratyajon confers ‘Bishnu Basu Smriti Puroskar’ in the loving memory of the late Bishnu Basu and also organizes ‘Bishnu Basu Memorial Lectures’. Other activities include theatre publications comprising a theatre journal and participation in the book fair. Bratyajon conducts theatre workshops for children which culminate in a stage performance.
