AchieveMents: Our Programs strength-Psychosocial Care- Sneha Abhiyan addressing the psychological distress and depression resulting from the trauma of death and devastation around the survivors of the cyclone became the major focus of Sneha Abhiyan. Sneha Abhiyan and doctors from NIMHANS and child counsellors trained a group of local volunteers on psychosocial counselling and play therapy.
Education- Our partner community in Erasama likes to stay in the middle of their farm land. Due to this distance of one household from other is more and villages remain scattered. Education was not a priority within the community as the parents are busy with farming and fishing.
Livelihood-The livelihood program envisages self-sustaining communities by seeking opportunities for young people and women to avail of skills trainings, information and resources for community livelihood projects. Sneha Abhiyan has given stress on the women empowerment to ensure them their right to food and livelihood.
Water and Sanitation-The water and sanitation program addresses the issues of lack of access to safe drinking water and sanitary toilets, poor quality and water governance, poor garbage disposal and drainage systems.
Womenââ¬â¢s rights- The women community are, many a time, facing exploitation and torture. Many of them are aware of their rights through which they can safeguard themselves. In order to make the fair sex aware of their rights and empowerment Sneha Abhiyan is working sincerely to champion the cause of women. They have network of activities in 18 Panchayats.
Liasioning with Government -The Sneha Abhiyan is always working as a bridge between community and government agencies.Various awareness campaigns are organized to educate the people on the benefits of the schemes.
Support to PWDs for certificate and aid -Sneha Abhiyan has launched programmes in its DAs for the awareness of the Persons With Disability about schemes aimed at their development. There are 90 PWDs beneficiaries identified for pension schemes and 95 for getting PWDs certificates this year.
Federation Management Training to Sangathan - Sneha Abhiyan conducted capacity building training camps for women federations. Two management training camps were held in Erasama and Balikuda this year.
Capacity Building of Disable Sangathana - Steps have been taken to include the PWDs for helping them stand up self-dependent in the society through capacity building measures. There was a two-day training camp for the leaders in Erasama with the participation of PWDs leaders belonging to Erasama and Balikuda blocks.
Governance- The governance program cuts across areas where Sneha Abhiyan works. It promotes citizen and community (women and youth) participation, transparent and accountable public governance, improved public service delivery, and social accountability through productive engagement with government, networking and policy dialogue
