AchieveMents: St. John Ambulance Association, Uttar Dinajpur District Centre is governed, managed and controlled by the Executive Committee consisting of 13 Members. The organization also has been registered with Person with disability. Government of India has chosen the organization as MNGO for Uttar Dinajpur District in the field of Reproductive and Child Health. St. John Ambulance Association is working in the area on Community bases ASHA (NRHM) Programme. Besides these activities St. John Ambulance Association works on ICDS Workers Training Centre since 1984. The organization also promotes Self Help Group (SHGs) and conducts many NGO training on SHG promotion with the help of NABARD. The organization is implementing Anti Human Trafficking specially case management with the help of Groupe Developpment. Protection and prevention of vulnerable women and children from trafficking has been a critical cornerstone of St. Johns activities since the organization feels that trafficking is not only a heinous violation of human rights but a significant organized crime. With this guiding philosophy, the organization first made its foray in the social sector of Anti-trafficking and safe Migration in the year 2005 with the support of Sanlaap. The project Sanjog - I was implemented in chosen three Gram Panchayats under Raiganj sub-division.
St. John Ambulance Association is working on anti trafficking for last four years to establish child rights. This work is implemented through sanitization and capacity building of the adolescent peer group, women self help groups and local self government. Now few cases of trafficking also are managed with the help of District Administration. Therefore, we have experiences on involvement of community and government mechanism with our activities. These working experiences on prevention of child trafficking & exploitation will supportive to implement the proposed plan to establish the right to protection among the vulnerable community.
In all the blocks of Uttar Dinajpur district various projects are in action where 130 paid staffs are working. Besides these paid workers we have hundreds of dedicated volunteers throughout the district.
Our organization has own vehicles (2) which is used project purpose as per need and Organization have three permanent well equipped residential training centres.
By virtue of post District Magistrate is the President of our Organization.
