17000 Ft Foundation Key Issues and Operational Areas, Major Activiities & Achivements

AchieveMents: Mrs Suhata sahu, Founder, was awarded Nari Shakti Puraskar by the President of India on 8th March 2016, for her outstanding work in remote areas of Ladakh region on improvement of schools and livelihood of people there. Important projects carried out are: 1.MapMySchool@17000ft: Geomapping all schools in Leh and Kargil to enable connect all stake holders & tourists to visit the remote schools and hamllets which were so far ignored. 2.Youtang Project:- Improving the libraries ,infrastructure and play grounds in schools. Teachers are also trained. 3.Voluntourist@17000ft: Facilitate tourist to visit and connect with schools, people in remote hamlets, thus increasing awareness about those places to tourists. This also increases exposure of local people with outside world and improves livelihood due to tourist spending. Major impact as on Dec 2015: 1. All 960 schools in Leh and Ladakh are geo mapped. 2.100 schools in Leh are on full time support and monitoring through MIS and automation. 3.Library set up in 100 schools in Leh. 4.Class room infrastructure and play ground set up in 22 schools. 5.21000 story books translated to Bhoti language distributed to 370 schools. 6.900 teachers in Leh trained in collaboration with DIET, Leh. 7. 190 voluntourists sent to visit schools and hamlets to connect with people in remote Ladakh.
