Major Activities and Achivements

§ Presence in 18 states and 3 union territories of India with 14 directly implemented projects, 21 local NGO partners and 94 vocational education training centres § Livelihood education trainings for over 45000 adolescent youth with 94 education and livelihood projects in rural and urban areas with a sustained placement rate of 75-80 per cent § Back to Basics, an accelerated learning and quality enhancement programme for improvement in reading, writing, and arithmetic competencies of children at elementary level in 2464 schools reaching out to 218,655 children in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar § Three international thematic workshops aimed at capacity building of development professionals on various development issues as an yearly event, attended by over 350 participants from more than 15 countries § Implementation of Link Workers Scheme as the new HIV/AIDS intervention in collaboration with UNDP – NACO in 9 districts of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The project covers the total population of 100 core villages and 500 proximal villages in each of the nine districts with an array of BCC services through a cadre of trained personnel as link workers and volunteers. § Targeted intervention for IDU’s (Injecting Drug Users) in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh § Liberate School an action research programme to enable children to access knowledge relevant to their lives and environment through non school based interactions and opportunities with an outreach of 3000 children in Maharashtra § Participatory disaster proofing work in 80 villages of India and 25 villages of Sri Lanka in collaboration with European Commission § Business development training to 1185 persons in collaboration with International Labour Organization § Capacity building training of 284 government school teachers on inclusive education methods and rights of children with disabilities to facilitate the entry of children with disability into regular schools § Improving Government vocational education programme in 23 districts of Andhra Pradesh to create sustainable market oriented employment opportunities for marginalised youth in collaboration with Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and European Commission § Personality development programme for over 10000 children from 3750 families covering 175 slums through 78 boys’ club and 27 girls’ club in Tamil Nadu § Education of Children of Telugu migrants living and working in 21 settlements of Chennai in collaboration with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan § Policy research and advocacy in the areas of quality education, inclusive education and vocational education
