AchieveMents: The proposer Agency - Swargiya Haribhau Kulkarni Vishwast Manch (SHK Trust) is registered after the great personality , Shri Haribhau Kulkarni (1930-1989) had dedicated his whole life to the art and science of running public libraries and spread of ââ¬Ëthe Culture of Readingââ¬â¢. He is still remembered for his vision, social experiments and extraordinary demonstrative work done at Srirampur Public Library, Tq. Srirampur, District Ahmadnagar of Maharashtra State.
His memories are still preserved in the form of the Municipal hall named after him and the public library now converted into E-Library inaugurated at the hands of Bharat Ratna and Ex-President of India Shri APJ Abdul Kalam at Srirampur in 2014.
First fifteen years of the Trust was of silent working specially for downtrodden children at schools in Sangali district. A new office at Prachi, Atreya Society, Gokhale Nagar, Pune -16 was established in 2015 for activities of Astron. The activities of the Trust expanded geographically and volumetrically after 2004.
Achievements of the proposer agency: Within last three years, after establishment of new department named Astron, the achievements of the proposer agency in the direction of realization the dream portal are as follows:
a)Internal team building of passionate amateur astronomers and youngsters
b)Conduct of Astronomy related outreach programs for various target groups with different age groups and variety background
c)Creating In-house audio visual production expertise
d)Networking of enthusiasts to work for spread of Astronomy knowledge
e)Visiting and studying online education portals to know their functioning - academic, professional and technical aspect
f)Establishing contacts with the stalwarts in the field of Astronomy and science as well as in the social field to get inspiration, vision and guidance
g)Production of low cost dummy and pilot short films, audio visual teasers and presentations in the field of Astronomy and social messages
h)Networking of likeminded individuals and institutions
i)Creation of own website which is in the process of converting into the portal
Much is still to be done to fulfill the proposer agencyââ¬â¢s passion of creating a dedicated and unique educational portal for online Astronomy education and look forward to NCSTC for support in this regard. The highlights of the work done by the proposer agency are as follows:
1.Astrotainment is an annual signature program of Astron-SHK Trust entering into the third year of success. The motto of Astrotainment is Approaching Astronomy through Entertainment which is getting an astonishing response of the age groups ranging from 12 to 84 years.
2.Astron also collaborated with University of Lancashire(U.K.), GMRT, IUCCA, NCL Innovation Park, Aakash-Mitra, Navnirmitee, Municipal Science Park and many others for various events related to Astronomy.
6.Production of a character film of a personality dedicated to administration for quality higher education and four social advt films (2014-2016)
7.Astron, a new Department was set up in 2011 which started extension activities relating to Astronomy. The growth of Astron activities and spread proved its quality. Thanks to the young brigade associated with Astron.
