AchieveMents: Calcutta Kids Trust achievement
Calcutta Kids is committed to providing the crucial health and nutrition services during the first 1000 days of life to prevent irreversible damage to childrenââ¬â¢s long-term health. This is achieved by empowering pregnant women and mothers in the slums of Kolkata. Our goal is to provide services which positively impact childrenââ¬â¢s growth and development which in turn will help them to break out the cycle of poverty.
The Maternal and Young Child Health Initiative (MYCHI ) works to increase access to healthcare for pregnant women, and provide strong start to children in their first 1000 days of life,the crucial window of opportunity during which 80% of the brain development occurs.
We have achieved
For institutional delivery in our catchment area (Government or private)
Before Calcutta Kids Trust intervention 67% of mother had institutional delivery, with Calcutta Kids intervention over 95% mothers have institutional delivery.
Regarding initiated breastfeeding within 2 hours of birth
Before Calcutta Kids trust intervention only 8% of mothers did such initiation, with Calcutta Kids intervention 70% of mother did such initiation in our Catchment area.
Regarding fed colostrum to the new born
Before Calcutta Kids Trust intervention only 28% women fed colostrumââ¬â¢s,with Calcutta Kids Trust intervention 90% fed colostrum in our Catchment area.
Regarding birth weight
Before Calcutta Kids Trust intervention average birth weight was 1.8KGs, with Calcutta Kids Trust Intervention Average birth weight is 2.6KGs, in our catchment area 75% of women had babies weighing greater than 2.5 KGs 41% of those women had babies weighing greater than 3 KGs.
Calcutta Kids Trust is a winner finalist organization of 2009 Grant Competition South Asia Innovate for Nutrition held on 4-5 August 2009 at Dhaka , Bangladesh.
Calcutta Kids is a recipient of the 30th annual caring Award for the year 2015 for the selfless service to the dying , disabled and disadvantaged.
Honorable US consul General of Kolkata, Dean Thompson visit to Calcutta Kids in the year November 2012 and letter of Appreciation for Calcutta Kids amazing work for Slum children and mother.
Once again Honorable US consulate General Kolkata Mr. Craig L Hall visit to Calcutta Kids as on 21st of June 2016 and issued an appreciation letter mentioning as ââ¬Åworks of Calcutta Kids Trust is a great example of Indian and US friends working together.
