AchieveMents: CARE INDIA: Since 1950, CARE in India has delivered high impact programmes benefiting more than 16 million people across 15 States and 3 Union Territories. CARE works in the fields of livelihood, health, education, disaster relief and rehabilitation and holistic development for vulnerable and marginalized communities. The major programs in India are operational in Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. CARE has a credible and consistent track record of delivering social and economic programmes, through strategic partnerships with the Government of India, civil society organisations, private sector organizations and international agencies. CARE in India has worked with major multilateral and bilateral organisations including UNDP, World Bank, USAID, DFID, USDA, and EC; institutional donors including Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Elton John Foundation, State Bank of India (SBI), and Oracle among others. CARE has designed and implemented significant microfinance, micro enterprise and livelihood programmes in India, Asia and globally. CARE successfully designed and managed the DFID funded Credit and Savings for Household Enterprise (CASHE) to enhance the income and economic security of the poor rural women. CARE implemented the EU funded Sustainable Tribal Empowerment Project (STEP) aimed at improving the livelihood of poor tribal community by improving household income, access to services in health, education, and food security of 235,000 households in 4 districts of Andhra Pradesh. CARE is currently managing the implementation of USDA supported Sustainable Nutrition Education Health And Livelihoods (SNEHAL) to improve the livelihood security of occupationally marginalised groups in Gujarat through access to rights and entitlements, livelihood, health and education of the most vulnerable and hard to reach communities. CARE is also implementing the Tsunami Response Program (TRP) in Tamil Nadu to restore livelihoods of tsunami affected communities
