AchieveMents: Achievements & Activities of ‘Chuanpur Suhrid’. “Chuanpur Suhrid” started its journey on January 01, 1976. Since inception, it has been playing an active part in ‘Theatre Movement’ with the objectives of increasing awareness of people against social evils. Some of the productions of the organisation that paved the way towards reaching goals are – ‘Swarabarna’, Tota Kahini, Manorama, KanaMachhi, Ushna – Bhumi etc. The play like ‘Gayen’ has been staged for surviving the old famous rural art of ‘Kobi-gan’. While performing versatile social activities through theatre, the organisation has already been established itself, beyond the boundary of the district & state, in various provinces of India, and duly rewarded in several occasions while taking part in various competitions. Beside these, ‘Chuanpur Suhrid’ has tirelessly been trying to resolve and / or help shorting out various social issues. Some of these activities are – • Instant production of ‘street Drama’ on burning socially harmful issues. • Arranging ‘theatre festivals’ after successful completion of workshop for little girls (specially arranged in summer vacations). • Perfect use of several types of theatre for raising awareness towards eradication of social evils like – AIDS, Marriage of pre – matured children, Dowry System, Superstitions and so on. • Conducting programmes throughout the year in favour of ‘Adult Education’, ‘Literacy Programmes’, ‘Health awareness programmes for girls’, ‘Blood Donation’, ‘Communal Harmony’, ‘Anti Drug Propaganda’ and so on. • Distribution of books among truly poor students. • Increasing awareness through theatre regarding burning issues of a marginal district like Murshidabad. The organisation expects supports from every corner of the society for continuing such more & more activities.
