AchieveMents: The purpose and objective of the Association is to promote cogeneration of electricity, heat and other forms of energy as efficient, environment friendly and cost effective mode of meeting Energy requirement at National Level.
The nature of work of the association is in the National Interest to establish cogeneration as national priority, promoting cogeneration through strategies and measures, promoting congruence of attitudes and mindsets of stakeholders, to increase potential of electricity to meet the demands of Indian population.
Cogen India so far has successfully organized a 52 number of Workshops, Business Meets and Residential Training Programs for various industry sectors such as Distilleries, Paper, Sugar, Food & Fruit Processing, Biomass, Rice Mills etc, all over India. These events were participated by various mill owners, respective associations, technology providers, equipment suppliers, various banks, financial institutions and State Departments, Agencies, etc.
Cogen India successfully organized three Operator Training Programs in the States of Maharashtra and Uttarakhand during last two years. Total 246 operators were trained during these training programs. The six week intensive training program focused on key areas of cogen power plant viz boiler, turbine, water treatment, electrical distribution, evacuation and distributed control system, hygiene and safety, etc was designed to inculcate required skills amongst the participating operators, so that they can be very effective at their respective work places.
Based on the response and feedback received on the training programs, now, Cogen India has initiated organizing need based training programs in specific skill areas essential for sugar factory cogen power plant operators & management, engineering staff and have completed skilled training at Baramati Agro Ltd and Sangamner Bhag SSKL in the State of Maharashtra
Cogen India has successfully published Volume 42 of Industrial Cogeneration India a quarterly newsletter, ICIN. It disseminates information on cogeneration and decentralized energy generation every quarter, on issues relating to government policies, financing, technology, operation and maintenance, training and other capacity building initiatives, success stories, environmental issues, the Clean Development Mechanism, etc.
Cogeneration Association of India is working in the interest of the co-generators and has already approached various State Electricity Regulatory Commissions for review of tariff rate and tariff structure for Bagasse based Grid Connected Cogeneration Projects.
Cogen India with its sustained efforts and strong representation, has secured an upward revision in the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) tariff, which has resulted into a Conducive MERC tariff order, Rs. 4.79 (kwh) in 2010-2012, to Rs. 6.73 (Kwh) in 2016-17.
