Dynamical Operation for Social Transformation Key Issues and Operational Areas, Major Activiities & Achivements

AchieveMents: In the past we implemented various activities of District Health Department ( conducting tribal health camps, conducting diarrhoea control awareness programme, distribution of impregnated mosquito nets etc.); District Agriculture Department ( promotion of SRI method of paddy cultivation, seed treatment, Bringing Green Revolution to Eastern India with Deep ploughing and line sowing ). We extended our cooperation to District Administration during the Flood Relief Work . Now we are trying to get Govt. projects under Swatchh Bharat Abhijan and Pradhan Mantri Abas Yojana. During the recent past four years ( 2012-2016 ) our three core programmes are ( 1 ) Promotion of Sustainable/Organic Agriculture and traditional food crops seeds for production of healthy and nutritious food for food security of small farmer families; 2) Strengthening Women’s SHGs for Women’s socio-economic and political empowerment and 3) Strengthening Village Development Committees for effective good governance through Panchayati Raj Institutions. We are implementing the project in 30 villages in Nandahandi Block and in Papadahandi Block of Nabarangpur District in Odisha State covering 2,355 rural small holder families . The over all goal of this project is to contribute towards strengthening the social , economic and cultural independence of the marginalised Adivasi and Dalit communities ( in particular women) and ensure it through good governance. Achievement of the past four years 1. Organised 30 Village Development Committees; 30 Farmers’ Committees and 30 village seed banks (2,355 members ) and 85 Women SHGs ( 1,450 members ). 2. 110 quintals of 28 varieties of traditional paddy seeds revived and made available with 30 seed banks in 30 villages to cultivate varieties traditional paddy crops; 3. Collected and kept in 30 village seed banks varieties of cereals,millets,pulses,beans for facilitating mixed cropping for ensuring food security ; promoted mixed cropping over 600 Acres of up land during last agricultural season; 4. Distributed Rainy season Vegetable Seeds & seedlings, fruit bearing trees and various roots and tubers to 2,355 households; set up all season family nutrition garden with bucket drip irrigation in 300 households.It is contributing to their family food security and nutrition; 5. Vermicompost pots are set up in 112 households; Herbal pesticide pots set up in 70 household; 2,355 farmers are trained in various skills for pursuing organic agriculture . 6. 2,355 farmers are trained in the process to prepare good quality compost in their compost pits; 7. In 30 SHGs the two members are trained in writing their accounts and minutes and are writing their accounts and minutes. 8. 85 Women SHGs have a total savings of Rs. 9,35,480.- and have mobilized seed money and bank loan . 9. Women SHGs are taking part in Angan Wadi work and are conducting Anti-Alcohol campaigns; 10. People are aware about the responsibilities of Grama Panchayat and functions and duty of Sarapanch .People are actively participating in Palli Sabha, Government development programmes such as MGNREGS, Swatchh Bharat Abhijan, deliveries in hospital,immunization of children, education of girl children, anti-liquor campaign and other community development works in their own villages.
