Forum for Prevention of Road Accidents Key Issues and Operational Areas, Major Activiities & Achivements

Operational Districts: Cuttack

Operational States: ORISSA

AchieveMents: Our work is to save lives and reduces injuries by leading effective and integrated programme ensuring prevention of road accidents in India. At FPRA, we are developing road safety programmes to increase knowledge, awareness and skills amongst all types of road users. Besides education, we are also promoting advocacy on relevant issues in influencing, informing and assisting decision and policy makers. We have a high expectation on its 3-fold noble missions. The mission includes the change of behavioral characteristics of road users, drivers of vehicles in specific, towards a safe movement on roads. FPRA contemplates to develop a strong management information system on traffic hazards and road safety measures in the state so as to remain a watch dog between intent & implementation of government measures on road safety. The third mission embodies the continuing efforts to promote road safety literacy among all vulnerable groups of road users through intensive awareness & education programmes. We believe in the vision of optimisms. The Forum envisions a safe, efficient, comfortable and economy movement of people on roads in the long run. It envisions transforming the mind set of road users to preserve the road safety ethics as a way of life. It envisions minimizing the traffic mishaps as a negligible public health issue in future years. To know more about FPRA and its activities, pl. visit our website www.fpra.net
