ACTIVITIES :
Since the inception Gayeshpur Sanglap has been sincerely dedicating itself to the various aspects of theatre. The organization always tries to innovate something new in theatre through experiments in forms and contents of drama. Producing varieties of dramas, from classic to cotemporary is the main characteristic of Gayeshpur Sanglap.
Since establishment the organization has produced almost 25 one act, 15 full length and numerous street and intimate theatre and performed @ 120 times per year consistently. Due importance was given and being imposed on the production of child theatre for energizing the next generation in our very own and universal art and literature in parallel with our regular theatre acting and for this purpose several workshops were organized related to theatre.
We strongly believe that the art of theatre should be changed to keep pace with the ever evolving entertainment world obviously by not losing its entity. We have organized many useful workshops to develop skills on different aspects of theatre lighting, stage designing and music where famous theatre personalities were present as the instructors.
Gayeshpur sanglap firmly believes that every theatre worker must be aware of the world as well as the theatrical movements of different provinces of our nation .At the same time theatre must reflect our present time to be relevant. So we frequently arrange seminars and scholastic discussion where almost every leading personalities from different fields of art participated.
We arrange a four-day festival each year for the last consecutive ten years in January and also an one day celebration on 27th march, the theatre day. Approximately 100 personalities were felicitated in our festival. Besides celebrating theatre festival we celebrate World AIDS Day (6th Dec ) and World Environment Day (5th June )every year and numerous street and poster dramas are performed by our group members and by the students of the local schools where theatre works are carried on by our group .Besides these we celebrate our Establishment day on 15th August every year by organizing cultural competitions, blood donation camp and free health check-up camps and folk fest where artisans from the soil perform.
ACHIEVEMENTS
1) We have been awarded with the order of merit in countless drama competitions in our state as well as in different regions of India.
2) Our members participated in the prestigious workshop done by Bond Street Theatre, New York, Exile theatre, Afganisthan.
3) Our members won the best talent award in the workshop organized by the west Bengal state Theatre Academy.
4) The playwright and the director of the group Mr. Santanu Majumder was awarded with the prestigious State Academy Award in 1998.
5) Our group was awarded with the Best Theatre Group of the year in the State Youth Festival in 2005.
6) Our group members are regular artists in television and radio.
7) Gayeshpur Sanglap has been performing in different festivals including fests organized by the state Govt. with fame and success since its birth.
