Green Urja Technologies and Systems Key Issues and Operational Areas, Major Activiities & Achivements

Operational Districts: Hyderabad,Krishna, Guntur, Kurnool,Adilabad, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Sangareddy

Operational States: TELANGANA, ANDHRA PRADESH, TELANGANA

AchieveMents: GUTS has been organized by few persons to design develop and verify through implementation some innovative alternative paradigms for providing the energy and other infrastructure services to the poor and importantly to disseminate the new paradigm to achieve expected impact in the society. It is focusing on designing and deploying innovative clean energy devices to replace or supplement the lighting, cooking drinking water purification now being done by the fossil fuel using devices, which leave a large carbon foot print and affect the local and global sustained well-being. Even though the household in rural India are poor and the per household contribution GHG emission is somewhat small compared to urban households, the cumulative emission from the rural households is a significant fraction of the total emission in India. A clear understanding of the nexus between the emissions in rural household due to use of kerosene for lighting and traditional fuel for cooking, the GHG emission produced and the global warming and consequential climate change impact will alone lead to sustained efforts towards the adoption of the energy efficient and renewable forms of energy. Our focus on propagation of the adverse impacts of carbon emission from poor households and assure them to provide technical and related trainings to the youth, for promoting energy efficient and renewable energy. Imparting Training in Solar Technology would help in creating large number of “Bare Foot Solar Engineers” in the rural villages who not only attends to maintenance of solar equipment but also earn income ranging from Rs.4000 to 5000 per month. Our experience in Ananthapur District of Andhra Pradesh where we have installed about 7000 home lighting systems, these trained youth have been proved to be the “Torch Bearers” in the promotion, propagation, demonstration & deployment of various RET’s. Imparting 3 months training in solar energy will give further impetus in creating more Green employment opportunities both self employment and absorption as technicians in renowned solar companies. The objectives of alleviation of poverty, reduction of pollution, generation of Green employment and substitute fossil fuel equipment with Solar Energy can be achieved by training number of youth in Solar Technology. GUTS objectives are promotion, propagation, demonstration and deployment of various RET’s in both Urban and Rural areas. GUTS has been a channel partner to MNRE and completed the solar project entrusted to it under ACE Project of MNRE/UNDP. We have installed about 7000 Home PV lights systems in Ananthapur which is the biggest pilot in the country. As an integral part of the installation of solar equipment in different villages, we have trained number of youth in Solar Technology in all those villages in order to promote Green Employment. These trained technicians are working like “Bare Foot Solar Engineers” in the villages earning an income of Rs.4000 to 5000 per month besides attending to their own self employment activities. We would also organize standardized & structured solar training programme in association with our knowledge partners like NIRD & PR and ASCI etc.
