AchieveMents: “Halisahar Maati” made its first footstep in 1997. It has been working for the cultivation different wings of Art and Culture ( Theatre, Painting, Singing, Dancing ) for last 18 years. In many towns and remote areas Maati has been performing theatres and its current productions are “The play – ‘Edipus Rex”, written by “Sophocles”, “The play – ‘Shasti”, written by “Rabindranath Tagore”, “The play – ‘Behula”, ( based on Poets Bijay Gupta’s famous folk literature ‘Manasa Mangal’) written by “Sunirmal Mistry”, the all play Directed by Parimal Mistry. The total number of direct members, Artists and well-wishers of “Maati” is above Thirty- Five. The current President of Maati is Sukamal Mistry, Secretary – Parimal Mistry, Treasurer – Sushil Banik, and others. The chief functionary of this organization is Parimal Mistry. He had completed his Masters in acting from “National School of Drama” in 2004 and in 2005 the Fellowship of National School of Drama. From then he has been actively doing the serious theatre work. In 2008, he was supported financially by National School of Drama for Theatre Workshop for the first time. And to fulfill that venture “Halisahar Maati” did had cooperated him thoroughly. Just like that in 2011 and 2012 the Individual theatre project had been succeeded. In 2008, Parimal Mistry as the chief advisor and guide (Secretary of organization) of Halisahar Maati had first introduced the project of theatre workshop in nature. The workshop, conducted by Halisahar Maati, had been successfully executed by Parimal Mistry. This workshop was held at the ‘Guest House of Joydeb Mela Committee’ under the jurisdiction of ‘SDO, BOLPUR, BIRBHUM, W.B (Via – Bolpur, Shantiniketan, Sadar – Illambazar, Dist - Birbhum, West Bengal.) and basically on the big strand space of the river bank of Joydeb. With all the experiences of past years, this year’s also Halisahar Maati is going to conduct that very full residential theatre workshop in the exotic Natural space of Joydeb, with the support of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, a Theatre workshop was held from 10th March to 9th April, 2013. Salary Grant for Halisahar MAATI has been approved in the Minutes of 11th, 12th, 13th, June, 2012 (No.F.10-02/2011-P.Arts(Vol-III),Ministry of Culture, P. Arts Section). Non-Residential Theatre Workshop held on 26th August to 25th September, 2013, assistance by National School of Drama, guidance by Parimal Mistry. This year’s Halisahar Maati is organized ‘MAATI NATYA UTSAB – 2013’ in the address of Halisahar, Deshbandhu Play Ground, Deshbandhu Colony, P.O- Nabanagar, Dist – North 24 Parganas, Pin – 743136, W.B, with the financial support of CFGS, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, a Theatre Festival (MAATI NATYA UTSAB - 2013 ) was held from 26th March to 30th March, 2014 ( 5 days). Halisahar Maati has taken an Endeavour, ‘MAATI NATYA UTSAB – 2013’ comprising of 9th Plays of different Groups from different districts for 5 days. It is the first leap, ‘MAATI NATYA UTSAB – 2013’ by gathering different Theatre Groups in one stage. Now our running Production is The Play “GADHA BAZAR”, Written by Jousif Kamal, Translated and Edited by “Tirthankar Chanda” and Directed by Parimal Mistry. Our forth coming Production is The Play “Sonar Ball”. The play based on the Famous writer Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattyapadhyay’s short story Subarno Golok.
