AchieveMents: Indian Triathlon Federation is a National Sports Federation formed to oversee the promotion and development of the sport Triathlon in India. The Federation was formed in 1990 and registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 1975 Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1975. ITF headquarters is in Chennai having their office at Khivraj Complex II, 2nd Floor, 480, Anna Salai, Nandanam, Chennai 600 035. ITF has 26 State Associations & affiliated units and 4 Associate Members who are actively involved in the promotion and development of the game in India. The Federation is affiliated to Indian Olympic Association, Asian Triathlon Confederation and also with the International Triathlon Union. Indian Triathlon Federation conducts various activities during the year: Coaching Camps, Tournaments National & International, Daily training at The Indian Triathlon Academy, Chennai, Coaches Clinic, Participates in international competitions, Technical Official Course, Community Course. Triathlon is a combination of swimming, cycling, running. In its purest form, events start with a swim, is then followed by a bicycle ride, and completed with a run, all over a stipulated distance. Major activities and achievements of ITF in 2015-16: The 12th South Asian Games were held in Guwahati & Shillong from 5th to 16th February 2016 and the triathlon events were held on 13th & 14th February 2016. The Countries took part in this event include India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. In both the Men- Individual & Women-Individual category, India bagged the Gold & Silver medal and in the Mix-Relay category, Indian team bagged the Gold. To enhance the athlete’s development from the South Asian Region and increase the participants in the South Asian Games, the ASTC-ITU Development Camp was held from 6th – 11th February 2016 at Guwahati, India. 16 athletes from three difference counties including India, Nepal and Sri Lanka joined the training camp. ITU and ASTC hosted the ITU Level 1 Technical Official seminar at Guwahati, India from 10th – 11th February 2016. Twenty eight participants from India and Nepal took part in the two days seminar to upgrade their knowledge and know-how on officiating at the international events and learn more about interpreting and applying ITU competition rules from Ms. Rachel Ribo, ITU Facilitator from Philippines.
