AchieveMents: The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical Mission was founded under the auspices of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and was registered as a charitable institution under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955 on 18.2.67. The mission has been rendering service to the public at large with the objective to engage in activities which will result in the development and upliftment of the rural areas and facilities around Kolenchery. The MOSC Medical Mission Hospital commenced providing services on 14th Sept. 1970 with 100 beds and now it has grown to a Medical College with 1100 beds with all preclinical, clinical and superspeciality departments. All activities of the hospital including the medical college are of charitable and philanthropic nature not involving any activity for profit. The hospital including the specialized departments cater to the needs of the public at large at a very subsidized rates for treatment, diagnostic services, dispensing medicines etc. We provide the following social and community services. • An amount of Rs. 3 lakhs per month is allotted for patients who are kept under teaching free cases. • The hospital set aside around Rs.200 lakhs a year under hospital free a/c for the Free Diabetic clinic, Free Ophthal treatment, Free ENT treatment, Free medical clinics at various community centres, Free Tuesday clinics and Concession on final bills of patients • Dept. of Community medicine operates 6 health centres providing outreach clinics, antenatal check up, immunization and blood sugar checking and providing health education. • We have set aside Rs. 200 lakhs every year to give scholarship for eligible students studying in our Medical College. • We are giving free dialysis to 20 patients in our hospital. Annual expense w/off in this account amount to Rs. 29 lakhs (approx.) • One of our major achievements is that we provide free De-addiction treatment with the financial support of MSJE, Govt. of India.
