AchieveMents: Agriculture as a backbone of the country economy.Model Action For Rural Change has set up Model Action For Rural Change (MARCH) in 1997, Which is an independent non profit NGO working in collaboration with local as well as national development agencies. The main objective of the MARCH is to reach to all components of the society for the management of human and natural resources for sustainable development. Ultimate mission of the MARCH is to make people productive and prosperous where they are and to improve the quality of life in surrounding community through multifarious support activities like professional, technical and financial as well as catalyst for appropriate planning, implementation and post implementation care with the help of their own dedicated staff and volunteers. This is only possible with the help of involvement of the community concerned through motivation and coordination by MARCH along with various supporting agencies. The action plans of the organization give due weight age and importance to the traditional wisdom of the community and site specific needs. The main connecting link between commitment and performance as well as expectations and achievements.For the initiation of any activity, willingness and full involvement of community concerned is very essential for the fruitful results in long run. First of all MARCH identifies key trust areas and opportunities through involvement of all components of the society of activity sites. With this basic ground work, the concept is discussed with the community and professionals for proper pre-implementation planning.At Solapur,Pune,Nashik,Osmanabad and Kolhapur the emphasis has been mainly on provision of drinking water. MARCH is working in various areas of development for the last decade and has achieved positive results in all the development programme simple mented so far. For effective implementations, better management and the programme evaluation of the ongoing projects, categorized various sectors like water resource development, agriculture, animal husbandry environment conservation, watershed development, non-conventional energy sources, children and women development, health and education services, and relief operations during natural disasters. This way MARCH is committed for improvement of quality of life through integrated community development efforts. MARCH activities first began in Solapur in 1997. In the other units some activities have also been initiated in the last few years. However, owing to them being in existence for the longest duration and with a specially created team for such work, the Solapur unit is doing a variety activity. The work in Solapur has also become visible, and recognized by the local people and the government authorities. Work at Solapur thus has been detailed in this report and forms a major part of it.
