AchieveMents: we are happy to brief you about our organization the nashabandhi mandal of gujarat the original nashabandhi mandal was established in the state of mumbai in 1958 prior to its division. in 1960 after the formation of the state of gujarat. a parallel division was also observed in the nashabandhi mandal. thus, the nashabandhi mandal, gujarat was formed under the presidency of jugatarambhai dave. along with shri morarjibhai desai, shri. prabhudas patvari, uchhanganrai dhebar, shri. ratubhai adani, smt. indumatiben seth.
while shri. manubhaiji patel, smt. jayaben shah, shri. natwarlal parmar, former members of parliament are the pioneer pillars of this mandal along with shri. jitendrabhai desai.
in the current scenario nashabandhi mandal, gujarat is one of the oldest institutions in india working for prohibition and rehabilitation of victims of substance abuse. in collaboration with the ministry of social justice and empowerment, government of india the mandal runs six integrated rehabilitation centers for the victim of substance abuse in various parts of gujarat. in addition with the support of gujarat state, home ministry department of prohibition and excise mandal has a strong network of district co-ordinators and city organizers throughout the state. these messengers are actively involved in spreading the message of de-addiction given by the father of the nation shri mahatma gandhiji.
with support of the ministry of social justice and empowerment, government of india nashabandhi mandal of gujarat has initiated rehabilitation centres for those suffering from drug addiction. the services are free of cost that includes the stay and food arrangements. following is the list of ircas run free of cost by nashabandhi mandal. the mandal is actively involved in awareness, advocacy and networking for issues of drug demand reduction. we have close associations with core ngos, government sector and private sector as well.
to enable industries to deal with the problem of drug addiction among their employees and improve their quality of work performance, nashabandhi mandal has developed a comprehensive package. as part of the package, the management and union members are encouraged to develop a policy towards creating an alcohol free environment in their workplace.
apart from conducting effective prevention programmes, the mandal provides methods to supervisors and managers to identify early phase problem drinkers through poor job performance. in addition, it helps in offering treatment, rehabilitation and follow-up services.
various capacity building training programs, workshops, conferences are being hosted by the mandal. varied social groups viz. asha workers, panchyat leaders, teachers, nss/ ncc students, health care workers etc are sensitized on the issues of drug addiction.
nashabandhi mandal has a very strong and vibrant networking with various national state based nongovernmental organizations, government departments; community based organizations, educational institutes, industries, corporate etc.
