AchieveMents: I. Social & Human Development a) Community Development The Association has been working with underprivileged people living in slums and resettlement colonies with the motto to develop a self-reliant society by educating and motivating them. At present, community work is being carried out at eleven Alternative learning centers coordinated through Five Basti Vikas Kendra’s at Karpoori Thakur, Kalyanpuri and Sunlight colony Concentrating on child care, community health care, women’s welfare, adult Education, legal assistance, literacy and income generating Programme. The Association through its Awareness Generation Camps make the group of The women from the community aware on issues related to health and hygiene, Nutrition, legal rights and advocacy, empowerment, education, gender & HIV. The camps are partly supported by the Delhi Social Welfare Advisory Board. The Association through its Family Counselling Centre at Aradhak Nagar Addressees various issues concerning Dowry harassment, dowry death, Cruelty, Bigamy, personality differences and behavioral problems in children. II. Centre for Development of Youth and Challenged (CDYC) a) Special School The center is contributing to the needs of the youth and the challenged in and Around the Nizamuddin through its Special School & Home Training Programme. Special School is an effort towards physical, social and Psychological development of the mentally retarded children and helps to Build among them a positive self-image. III. Rural Community Development Centre (RCDC) New Delhi YMCA has a Rural Development Centre a village Bulwana, Hodal. The Centre is working in 12 villages in Hodal Block. Through these centers have Programmes on literacy, community health and skill training for women and girls are conducted. Self Help Groups are formed in the Hodal to make the women independent and self-reliant. Illiterate ladies and girls in the villages are made literate and taught the basics of tailoring, embroidery and preventive maintenance of machines. IV. Education & Human Potential Development The Association through its Human Potential Development Programme provides quality education to young persons in diverse areas, ranging from Primary School to under graduate level Programmes. Office Management and Career Studies Programs are providing employment oriented undergraduate programs. The Media Studies and Management proving, to post graduate level Programme in Management and Media Studies. V. Medical Relief Activities carried on to provide medical relief by treating patients either with or Without charges are considered as charitable purpose. It may be noted that the activity need not be absolutely philanthropic, in the sense that one has to provide Free medical services or subsidized medical services. Further, New Delhi YMCA runs comprehensive health and healthy life promotional Programs. Under this program New Delhi YMCA is running Clinics for every Community development centers (CDC) in all over Delhi including RCDC Hodal. The Association has conducted workshop on ‘Awareness of HIV / AIDS ‘to generate Awareness on HIV / AIDS with the students. Free Eye camps, eye operations and general medical camps are organized each year. These programs are organized to give free medical assistance to the people from economically weaker section of the society.
