AchieveMents: Ranan is a young performance company on an exciting journey of discovery—a journey powered with the electric joy, the fascinating ephemerality, the inspired and inspiring moments of live performance. Ranan Performance Collective grew out of an immediate felt need to demystify Indian classical dance and make it accessible and enjoyable for larger audiences. The vision has grown into a conviction that performing arts should be an indispensable part of life both for those who practice it and those who partake of it. We aim to explore and forge imaginative, practical and accessible ways of bringing art, artists and audiences closer together so that the arts themselves can thrive and evolve by involving more and more people. Ranan works in three broad areas * Productions * Performance Training * Partnership Projects. PRODUCTIONS Ranan production work straddles two categories – Dance, always with Kathak at the centre of a variety of impulses Theatre, with dance and movement as an integral and powerful component Ranan’s performances have earned a reputation for variety and quality, featuring at venues as varied as theatre and dance events, performance festivals, corporate gatherings, and fest at institutes of higher education. PERFORMANCE TRAINING Ranan’s Kathak training wing – Brindar – conducts regular classes and is also committed to providing exposure to other languages of movement and performance techniques through a range of workshops, interactions and screenings. Ranan’s own rehearsal space – a luxury for performance groups in India – allows simultaneously flexible and intensive inputs of time and planning for the purpose of training. PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS Ranan works in partnership with various organisations on a range of projects – workshops, interactive sessions, radio programmes, platforms, lecture demonstrations and more.
